Windows Media Player Classic
Looks like the old style Windows Media Player, but isn't. So if
you can do without the fancy do-nowts, give it a go. It won't keep annoying you
either will just play whatever you throw at it, with the right choice of codecs
and it's FREE!

Audacity
Nice FREE Audio Editor if you want to dabble in Audio
Restoration. I t has everything you need to get you started, including software
simulation of record equalisation curves, noise reduction and click removal. I
don't use it, but have played with it and must say I'm impressed, especially for
the price. Congrats to all the people involved.

Roger Wilmuts Home Page
I stumbled across Rogers site whilst looking for information
regarding the equalisation curves of 78rpm Records. Glad I did, have a look at
this site, it's full of information relating to Artists and Musicians of the
late 19th and early 20th century with lots of clips to listen to from Music Hall
to Operatic Arias. Thing that struck me was how these guys and gals managed to
produce anything vaguely entertaining given the limited technology available.
Unlike nowadays where we have all the technology but seem to struggle using it,
maybe it's down to talent?

Heebie Jeebies
Probably the best fifties Radio Show on the Net, from Stads Radio
Helmond in Holland. Large archive of passed Shows which can now be downloaded in
Hi-Fi MP3 format. All the Shows are backed up with detailed Playlists, which of
course is very important for the Collectors of Rock n' Roll, Rockabilly, Rhythm

EAC (Exact Audio Copy
Does what it say's on the tin. It will make an exact replica of
all the audio tracks on a CD for CD to CD backups. Once cleaned, a damaged CD
can often have the tracks retrieved from it to make a new playable copy. FREE.

This Russian site has lots of information - some in Russian and some in German
but much of it in English. Technical specifications can be found in the
"Handbook" section with the "Review" and "Advertising" sections giving lots of
more general information - needs the djvu plugin to view these last two
sections.
